Re: rebuilt kickstart now pedal wont come back up Mike, did you install the return spring 180 out, from the spring bolt? In any case, the kick starter is best left for emergencies, not as a daily method to start your scooter. Project creators keep 100% ownership of their work, and Kickstarter cannot be used to offer equity, financial returns, or to solicit loans.

I have a 1985 honda cr80r dirtbike @ Posted by munozjoel56 on Jan 17, 2018. I have tried numerous attempts at identifying the problem and my best guess is the spring is touching the casing and wont return to original position…
I have a baja 125cc dirtbike. Was this article helpful? If you install the return spring, …

There is a large tab that limits the return of the shaft and this tab should be resting inside a small depression in the case. when I shine light through reed valves I notice they don't form an airtight seal. It happened to me, and that's what the problem was. Location: chicago. Backers can also opt to pledge for a project without selecting a reward. i just bought the spring. that tab needs to be inserted into its proper place.>>( its apperantly has slipped out of place.) I have to use propane to get it started, it sounds good when running but it won't idle. thanks #2 03-19-2009, 12:17 PM hit_it. Jr.
1985 Honda CR80R needs a lot of work. Kickstarter won't return to starting position on its own. This is pretty common so don't be to alarmed over it.
The spring was broken ,however the replacement spring has made no difference .
If it started all of a sudden you probably have a broken or loose return spring.
i hope that was my problem. SOLVED: Kickstart... Share on Facebook; Share on Twitter ; Share on Google+; Share on Pinterest; Share by Email × Question about 1994 Honda XR 600 R. 1 Answer . please help and thanks in advance
the crankcase has cracks and leaks oil. Posts: 2 oh crap i have the same problem. The kickstart stays in the down position and has to be pulled up manually. The return spring on your kick starter is likely broken. I have to push it back. You risk cracking the CVT case. Last Online: 04-22-2009 09:16 PM. the bike is running fine otherwise tho. If it started after a rebuild, you probably just need to take off the clutch cover and reassemble it right. You need to drain your oil, then remove the right side-case.
If it simply falls in, there is something wrong - either the opposite end has broken off or has fallen out of the shaft, the spring is broken or you are trying to install it in the wrong orientation.
Author Topic: Kickstart will not return - any ideas (Read 455 times) Kiwisteve74. it didnt start and the kickstart wont go back up. With the cover off - kickstart works properly, put the cover back on and the problem happens again. I don't see how all of a sudden there can develop enough friction between either the shaft and the oil seal or the shaft and kickspring retainer to interfere with the spring return?
i went to kickstart it, and i kicked it, snap!
When the side case is removed you will notice the kick-starter return spring will have a little tab that bends toward the center cases.
